Frequently Asked Questions About Vedic Astrology Readings
What is a Vedic astrology (Jyotish) reading?
A Vedic astrology reading is a one-on-one session where I read your birth chart using the sidereal Jyotish system, the same system used in India for thousands of years. Unlike Western astrology, Jyotish is fundamentally a system of timing. I’ll show you your dharma (your evolutionary role), your current dasha (the planetary period you’re in), and the practices that bring your chart into flow.
How is Vedic astrology different from Western astrology?
Vedic astrology is sidereal. It tracks the actual positions of planets against the fixed stars. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which has drifted around 24 degrees from the actual sky over the last 2,000 years. The result is that your sun sign in Vedic astrology is often different from your Western sun sign. More importantly, Vedic astrology gives you precise timing. It tells you what’s opening for you now, what’s closing, and when. Western astrology tends toward psychological archetypes. Jyotish tells you when things will move.
How long is the session and what's included?
The session runs 60 to 90 minutes via Zoom, or in person in Sydney if you’re local. You’ll receive a full video recording afterwards, plus any tailored practices and remedies we discuss. Breath, mantra, kriya, or gemstone where it’s relevant. Sessions are $270 AUD.
Which reading should I book first?
If this is your first reading with me, book the General Reading. It covers your dharmic path, your major planetary placements, and the broad shape of how your life has unfolded so far. Once you have that foundation, the Current Transits and Relationships readings go deeper into specific areas. Most people return for one of those within 6 to 12 months.
Do I need to know anything about astrology before my reading?
No. The reading is for you, not for an astrology student. I explain everything in plain language and focus on what’s relevant to your life right now. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your chart, your current timing, and a practice to take away. The video recording means you can revisit it any time.
Do you read charts for people outside Australia?
Yes. Most of my international clients are in New Zealand, the UK, the US, and the Middle East. Sessions are over Zoom and recorded, so timezone is rarely an issue. I’ll work with your timezone when scheduling.
What information do I need to provide to book?
Your exact date of birth, your time of birth (as accurate as possible, within 5 minutes is ideal), and the city you were born in. If you don’t know your birth time, we can still do a meaningful reading using a chart rectification approach, but it’s stronger with the birth time.
